Lake Solano Tour Leader Training and Open House
Volunteers needed to lead Nature walks at Lake Solano
Join an informal information session and tour of Lake Solano Park, and learn what it takes to become one of the all-star docents!
Putah Creek Council and Lake Solano Park have joined forces to improve volunteer opportunities at the Park. We are seeking excited volunteers to help bridge the gap between the Park's natural resources and the public.
Docents, (trained tour leaders) guide visitors and share their knowledge about local history, flora, and fauna to help educate the public about the vast array of opportunities to be enjoyed at Lake Solano.
Opportunities for docent volunteers include leading public tours on the second Saturday of each month, assiting with educational materials and displays, and helping on work projects to improve trails, gardens and habitat areas.
Please register at the link below to attend this informational meeting. All ages, skill sets, and knowledge levels are welcome! A formal Docent Training will be held at a later date to provide the necessary training.
Meet at 10 a.m. at the Lake Solano Nature Center, on the west side of Pleasants Valley Road. Parking is free for attendees. Please come to the Nature Center to obtain your pass, and then park in the lot across the road. For questions, call Sara Tremayne at Putah Creek Council, 530-795-3006.
If you plan to explore the Park after the meeting, be prepared for variable weather and trail conditions by bringing water, wearing sturdy closed-toe shoes, and dressing in layers. A camera, binoculars and snacks are also recommended. Continue to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife at Lake Solano Park & Campground by picnicking, or renting a campsite for the weekend on a first-come, first-served basis.
